TheKirby series is having its 30th anniversary this year, with HAL Laboratory doing plenty to capitalize on the momentous occasion. Kirby and the Forgotten Land was released earlier this year to much acclaim, with the franchise taking on a fully 3D style of gameplay and open level design. The series more recently celebrated this milestone with a full concert known as the Kirby 30th Anniversary Music Fest, an online livestreamed concert with the series' songs performed in a «big-band style» made up of 35 musicians along with Kirby dancing around on a monitor.

To many fans' surprise and delight, Kirby's longtime voice actor, Makiko Ohmoto, also made an appearance at the event.
