Kirby and the Forgotten Land is looking to change things up dramatically, with the fan-favorite pink puffball shifting from a 2D side-scrolling adventure to open and vast 3D worlds. This alone is exciting, as this is the first time the Kirby series is making this transition, with past games using 3D models while sticking to a 2D plane. There are also plenty of new features that have recently been shown off, especially when it comes to how Kirby's new abilities impact the gameplay.
While Kirby's copy abilities are retained and reworked to fit 3D environments, there is are also new transformations that directly alter the environment around Kirby. This includes Kirby's new Mouthful Mode, which allows him to stretch his mouth and cover certain objects and utilize its abilities. This ranges from Kirby driving a car using his mouth to shooting cans of soda out of a vending machine. While a bunch of features will be included in the game, Nintendo has revealed another: amiibo support.

This information was posted on Nintendo's official website, where it gave a list of amiibos that are compatible with the game. These include amiibo figures of Kirby, King Dedede, Meta Knight, and Waddle Dee from when Kirby: Star Allies was released. The Super Smash Bros. amiibos of Kirby, King Dedede and Meta Knight will also be compatible with the game and can be used to get the same rewards as the Star Allies versions.
The Japanese exclusive Qbby amiibo from the Boxboy series can also be used to earn rewards in Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Whenever the player taps an amiibo on the Switch while playing the game, they'll earn a few items. While there are no plans to release any new amiibo figures at this time,
