As the Arrowverse expands into comics, new characters such as Kid Flash are making reappearances. But his comeback is unexpected given the circumstances.
Several of the Arrowverse shows are getting comic adaptations. In the case of The Flash, the story focuses on the future where the Flash's children, Impulse and XS, face a new kind of mind-controlling foe. Recognizing that the duo was in over their heads, they call for backup in the form of their uncle Wally West, who had previously been Kid Flash on the show. Wally even briefly was a member of the Legends of Tomorrow before returning to the isolated temple where he has been spending his days.

In Earth-Prime: The Flash #5 by Jess Carson, Emily Palizzi, Pablo M Collar, and Darko Lafuente, Wally arrives and helps the kids with the villain, but his appearance is a bit odd. Given that this story takes place in the future, fans would think that Wally has grown up and evolved since the show's modern time. But he is still wearing the same yellow costume he had on as a teenager even though he is now a man. What's even more bizarre is that he is still going by the superhero name of Kid Flash. Impulse and XS even refer to him as such to the public, which is strange given that he is so much older than them.
In terms of the comics and Arrowverse, Wally West is a bit of an anomaly. When DC rebooted their comics universe, the Wally West fans were familiar with was swapped out with a brand new version.
