The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, opened up about director James Gunn’s recent promotion at DC Studios.
While speaking with EW, Feige was asked what the discussion between himself and Gunn that took place when Gunn became DC Studios Co-CEO was like. Feige was enthusiastic about it and compared the discussion to the one they had when Gunn got the opportunity to direct .
“It was not dissimilar to when we talked about him doing ,” Feige explained. “I said, ‘That’s awesome, and I can’t wait to see it.’ I’ve never been shy about loving those characters. I had Superman posters all over my walls in my childhood bedroom, and I went to work for the Donners, [film producers] Richard Donner and Lauren Shuler Donner, because of Superman.
“The notion of those characters being in such good hands with James is exciting, and it’s very cool — after he finishes, of course.”
The DC Universe’s first phase, called Chapter One: Gods and Monsters, will feature a multitude of different movies and television shows. A few of the announced projects include a Batman and Robin-focused movie called , a Supergirl movie titled , a film, and multiple TV shows.
