Kao The Kangaroo: The Frosty Canyon Walkthrough

The Frozen Canyon acts as Kao The Kangaroo's introductory stage for the ice powers. As such, it will gradually teach you how to utilize your new powers. However, don't get it twisted, the game expects you to be pretty good at finding collectibles at this point, and it shows that by hiding them in some pretty easy-to-miss spots.

While there aren't that many collectibles to find in this stage, the ones present are concealed well. As a bonus, there are a healthy number of treasure chests, so they help increase the amount of content on display. Either way, this guide will point you in the direction of everything of note. So buckle in.

You will start this level by being introduced to your new ice power. Predictably, you will now be able to freeze water. Platform over to the gushing water platform and use your ground pound attack to freeze the water. Grab the fire orb and melt the ice wall found down here. You will enter a room with a treasure chest.

Melt the ice door, and enter a room with a giant block. Freeze the water, push the box, and enter through the newly revealed hole in the wall. Climb the net, cross the gap, and grab the first rune of the stage (1/5). After grabbing the rune, climb up to the next area. You will find a house with a frozen door; there are two fire orbs hidden around the back. Inside there is a frozen treasure chest.

You will now fight your first "fringer", which is what Kao The Kangaroo calls the sheep people. You will encounter another block that needs to be pushed. In this room, you will find your first crystal (1/3) very sneakily hidden on a ledge. As you push forward, you will encounter the second rune (2/5) in this stage.
