Elliot Page revealed that the Juno movie studio forced him to wear a dress on the red carpet, despite his requests to wear a suit. Page is a transgender man, but he had not come out yet when Juno premiered. Page starred in Juno in 2007 as the titular character, Juno Macguff, a strong-willed, independent teenager dealing with an unexpected pregnancy. The film gained critical acclaim and even garnered Page an Oscar nomination for Best Actress.
Since his role in Juno, Page went on to star in films such as The Tracey Fragments, Inception, X-Men: The Last Stand, andX-Men: Days of Future Past. Currently, he stars in The Umbrella Academy as Viktor Hargreeves. Page previously portrayed Vanya Hargreeves, but Vanya comes out as Viktor in season 3, corresponding to Page's coming out. The Umbrella Academy season 3 doesn't premiere until June 28, 2022, but fans are already rallying around Page's portrayal of Viktor. The decision that The Umbrella Academy made to introduce Viktor was certainly a strong move towards inclusivity and acceptance. Many others, besides Netflix, have offered their full support of Page, as well. However, he has dealt with gender stereotypes in the past.
