John Carpenter reveals his thoughts on whether the Halloween franchise will continue after Halloween Ends. Halloween is one of the longest ongoing horror franchises, spanning 13 films (including Halloween Ends) since 1978. After the critical praise of David Gordon Green's reboot, which retconned all other Halloween movies except for the original, was a box office success and did well with critics, Universal announced Halloween Kills would release in 2020, and Halloween Ends in 2022. That release schedule obviously didn't stick due to the coronavirus pandemic, but Halloween Ends is currently in production.
Halloween Kills wasn't as well-received as its predecessor and didn't make nearly as much at the box office, which is partly due to the dual release on Peacock. Not much has been seen of the sequel just yet since Halloween Ends juststarted filming last month, yet the movie is confirmed to have a four-year time jump after Karen's death at the end of Halloween Kills. Many are expecting Laurie to die at the end of this third film to effectively end the trilogy, as Universal supposedly doesn't have plans to continue the franchise.
