Jamie Lee Curtis has opened up about finally leaving the Halloween franchise after 44 years, describing it as an incredibly emotional moment for her. The actress has played Laurie Strode six times across the various Halloween timelines that have existed since the series kicked off in 1978. Her final outing as Laurie will hit the big screen later this year when Halloween Ends debuts on October 14.
Halloween made Jamie Lee Curtis one of the defining scream queens when it debuted in 1978. Directed by John Carpenter, the film redefined the slasher genre and spawned a massive franchise centered on Michael Myers. In the years since Halloween first premiered, Curtis has played Laurie at least one time in every decade, easily making her one of the longest-tenured actors in any horror franchise. Most recently, she returned to the role of Laurie for David Gordon Green’s new Halloween trilogy that kicked off in 2018, re-framing Laurie as a survivalist hero who has been preparing for Michael’s return ever since his initial rampage that left three of her friends dead. This trilogy will end later this year and will serve as a final sendoff for Laurie.
