Following major bidding war, Apple Original Films has successfully won the rights to a murder-mystery movie titled, with Oscar winner Jennifer Lawrence attached to play the leading role.
In addition to leading the cast, Lawrence has also signed on as a producer. This marks The Hunger Games vet’s latest collaboration with Apple and A24, after previously starring in the 2022 drama Causeway. Prior to her The Wives casting, Lawrence’s most recent movie was last year’s R-rated comedy No Hard Feelings.
Further details about The Wives’ plot and characters are still under wraps. However, according to Deadline‘s sources, Ratatouille: The TikTok Musical’s Michael Breslin and Patrick Foley’s script for the film will reportedly draw inspiration from the Real Housewives reality franchise. Besides Lawrence. it will also be produced by Justine Ciarrocchi, Jeremy O. Harris, and Josh Godfrey. It is a co-production between Apple Original Films and A24.
At the moment, Lawrence is currently preparing for the upcoming production start of her next movie Die, My Love, which is based on Lynne Ramsay’s 2019 novel. Last April, it was also reported that Martin Scorsese was hoping to recruit Lawrence and Leonardo DiCaprio for his planned Frank Sinatra biopic. Should the project be able to move forward, this would be Lawrence’s first movie with the acclaimed filmmaker.
