The Black Phone is the newest film world meant to haunt your dreams when it releases on June 24. After departing from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, director Scott Derrickson returned to his horror roots in a different way, by partnering with Blumhouse Productions. Known for its creative thrillers, such as Get Out and Happy Death Day, Blumhouse was the perfect avenue for Derrickson to reunite with Sinister writer C. Robert Cargill for an adaptation of the 2004 short story by Joe Hill.
The Black Phone follows a creepy villain known as the Grabber, played by Ethan Hawke, who preys on children. But his reign of terror is threatened when his latest victim, named Finney Shaw (Mason Thames), begins receiving phone calls from previous victims while trapped in the basement. With critics and audiences who viewed the film already calling it a masterpiece, it seems Blumhouse is sure to have another hit on their hands.
