Thanks to its release for the Nintendo Switch, the indie sandbox adventure game Astroneer has received some renewed attention at the start of 2022, leaving many to wonder whether the game has cross-platform support or crossplay opportunities. Astroneer can perhaps most closely be compared to the notorious space exploration game No Man's Sky, allowing players to venture across procedurally generated open-world planets, terraforming, collecting resources, and crafting more advanced materials or items. However, one notable difference is that Astroneer is arguably targeted towards a more casual player base, featuring faster progression and less of a set goal and storyline. Developed by System Era Softworks, it was first released for early access in late 2016, followed by a full release three years later in 2019 on Windows and Xbox One. The PlayStation 4 version of Astroneer came not long after, and most recently, Astroneer was ported to the Nintendo Switch on January 13.
