Tony Stark’s most brutal suit proves he doesn’t need high-tech gadgets to be a formidable force as Iron Man. Shown exclusively as a variant cover for a surprising Marvel Comics issue, this Iron Man suit shows that no matter the time period or even the resources, Tony Stark can design armor perfect for the warrior he has proved himself to be.
On a variant cover for New Mutants#12 by artist Gabriele Dell’Otto, Tony Stark is shown in a never-before-seen suit inspired by Roman gladiator combat. Created as part of the Iron Man by Design variant cover initiative, which saw skilled artists create new suits for Tony based on historical periods and striking themes, Tony is stripped of his arc reactor and repulsor technology, leaving him with cold, hard steel.
