In Marvel Comics, Wolverine's powers are famous for being delightfully disgusting, but the new Iron Fist gives Logan a run for his money on this front. Lin Lie, formerly known as Sword Master, is Marvel's new Iron Fist, and his powers work completely differently than any Iron Fist before him. Rather than generating energy from his own chi, Lin Lie's Iron Fist draws power from the shards of the Sword of Fu Xi embedded in his forearms. The latest issue of Iron Fist gives fans the gnarliest show of Lin Lie's powers yet, easily solidifying him as Marvel's most hardcore superhero.
Pieces of the Sword of Fu Xi got stuck in Lin Lie's arms when the weapon shattered in his hands. Since then, Lie has been trying to protect the remaining pieces of the sword from his enemies, who seek to use it to resurrect Chiyou, the ancient Chinese god of war. Originally, Lie's ancestor had wielded the Sword of Fu Xi to subdue Chiyou centuries ago, making the weapon similar to Black Knight's Ebony Blade sword with its emphasis on family history. And while the Sword of Fu Xi has been proven to be effective against a number of foes, including Knull, it is imperative that it never be used to bring Chiyou back to the land of the living.

In Iron Fist #3, Lin Lie and his allies are ambushed in K'un L'un, where a demon allied with Chiyou attacks the home where Lie had stashed some of the sword's shards. When the monster gives Lie the ultimatum of handing the sword shards over or letting his friends die, Lie opts to grab the shards and shoves them into the flesh on his hands and forearms.
