2022’s most anticipated iPhone is right now the next generation iPhone SE, not the iPhone 14. Apple is expected to update the 2020 model with a few upgrades that it thinks should keep it relevant in 2022. Leaks suggest Apple could call it the iPhone SE+ 5G, or iPhone SE 2022, simply the new iPhone SE. Apple, however, is yet to comment anything officially on the new iPhone SE.
Based on the leaked information so far, it seems that Apple is coming up with relatively minimal update rather than all-round upgrade. For old-time iPhone fans, this could be a good deal given that many are still used to the compact dimensions of the 4.7-inch iPhone models from the past, such as iPhone 8, iPhone 7, iPhone 6, etc.
How does all of it shape up in the grand scheme of things?
Based on all the leaks we have seen so far, here’s how the iPhone SE 3 shaped up.
- A display of 4.7-inches with an LCD panel, similar to the current iPhone SE.
- The Home Button based Touch ID fingerprint sensor for biometric authentication.
- A new Apple A series chipset inside, possibly the Apple A15 from the iPhone 13.
- A 12MP single rear camera and a 7MP front camera.
- Similar 1821mAh capacity battery expected inside.
- Glass-metal construction with IP rating for water and dust resistance.
- Could likely launch with iOS 15 in the newest avatar.
