Soon after the launch of 5G services in India, telecom operator Bharti Airtel officially launched the Airtel 5G Plus network. The service has been rolled out in eight cities, including Delhi, Chennai, Hyderabad, Varanasi, Siliguri, Nagpur, Mumbai, and Bengaluru. According to the company, Airtel customers residing in these cities can enjoy the high-speed Airtel 5G Plus services, that too with the existing data plans. Best part? You don't even need to upgrade your SIM to access 5G. That means, if you own a 5G phone, then you will have access to a 5G network. So, if you want to know if your iPhone has access to the Airtel 5G Plus service, then just check the full list.
“Apple yet to update software,” that's what Airtel's website says for the 5G-supported iPhone models in India. That means you will need to wait until Apple rolls out the software update to enable the 5G network in these iPhones. Once you update your iPhone, you will be able to access the 5G service.
Airtel says that 5G Plus would mean up to 30x faster speeds than 4G. Also, 5G technology is more energy efficient. Energy consumption for transmission of per GB data in 5G network is much lesser than prevailing 4G technology.
Also, apart from these mentioned eight cities, Airtel will expand the 5G coverage across all major cities of India by end of next year.
