VGC would like to introduce Chatting Vintage Games, our new retro podcast on Patreon.
When we asked VGC readers what a potential VGC Patreon page should offer, more retro content and more podcasts were top of the list.
While other retro content will follow, as our first action we’ve decided to combine the two for a new monthly retro podcast, Chatting Vintage Games.
Hosted by VGC retro historian (i.e. nerd) Chris Scullion, the podcast will focus on a different topic every month, with each topic being announced in advance to give listeners time to do some playing or reading beforehand.
Because we’ve given no advance warning this time, Episode 1 is a general discussion to the show, in which Chris and VGC’s Jordan Middler talk about what retro means to them and share memories of different key moments in the history of games.
Patreon members on all three paid tiers can access the full hour-long episode of Chatting Vintage Games (and every monthly episode going forward), but for everyone else here’s a seven-minute sample of the show:
Through our Patreon tiers, you’ll have access to two new monthly podcasts – Chatting Vintage Games and VGC: Off-Topic – a weekly newsletter, a Patron-only Discord server, special commenting privileges on VGC website articles, and more, while all of our regular content remains free for all.
We’re launching with a bunch of great content, but we also have loads more planned for the future, and we’re excited about how this new model can help us shape VGC’s future.
This is an opportunity not just to make VGC more sustainable, but also to build a community around our Patreon efforts, and make the team more accessible to those who enjoy our work.
