Instagram Down: Social media site faces outage across India, users left frustrated

Instagram down: Social media platform Instagram faced a brief outage today, May 25. The nationwide outage caused frustration among users as many were left unable to login or use the platform. Those who were able to login, complained about the feed not refreshing, messages not sending and similar issues. Some users took to Twitter to speak about the difficulties they faced to access the platform. According to reports, while the Instagram outage has been resolved as of now, some users are still facing difficulties in accessing the app.

Downdetector, a website that keeps track of real-time information about the status of various websites, reported on Twitter that an outage indeed took place. It said, “User reports indicate Instagram is having problems since 12:40 AM EDT”. The outage began at around 9:45 AM in the morning and persisted till 12:45 PM. While the services seem to have restored, some users are still reporting their inability of using Instagram.

The cause for this Instagram outage is not yet known, however it is believed that there was a server issue that caused the problem. Also, interestingly, while the Instagram down incident was nationwide, it wasn't experienced by everyone. Some users reported being able to use the platform normally throughout the outage.
