I love it when a game makes me work. There's something strangely compelling about being a forklift operator in Shenmue, driving taxis in Grand Theft Auto, mining asteroids in Elite Dangerous, or ferrying cargo between cities in Euro Truck Simulator.
I think it's because so many games force you to engage with their worlds violently, as a character who is in some way superior to everyone else around them. So the idea of doing something mundane, as someone unremarkable, is refreshing.
