Ian McKellen responds to queries about Scarlet Witch's parentage in the MCU with a comics reference. Elizabeth Olsen reprises her role as Wanda Maximoff in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, seemingly setting up the X-Men in the MCU. Given that, it's understandable that the long-existing questions about Scarlet Witch's supposed ties to the mutants are reignited, including her familial link to Erik Lensherr.

On the heels of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness' release, Olsen was recently asked about which Magneto actor she would like to potentially play Wanda's father — Michael Fassbender or McKellen. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness brought back Patrick Stewart's Professor X as part of Earth-838's Illuminati team. Unfortunately, his stint in the MCU was brief as he was also ruthlessly killed in the same film by Scarlet Witch. Despite this, it establishes the idea that Marvel Studios is willing to bring in Fox X-Men actors into the MCU to reprise their old roles. And considering how much prominence McKellen's Magneto has, it isn't outside the realm of possibility that Kevin Feige and his team will recruit him to the franchise. Even if McKellen does end up in the MCU, it's not a guarantee that his involvement will be tied to Wanda and her parentage.
