SMS messaging apps on Android smartphones are packed with several features, some of which a lot of people don't know about until they are needed, such as the ability to schedule a message by setting the time and date to be sent to a recipient. Even with the popularity of instant messaging apps, SMS is still widely used by people and businesses around the world.
While Google Messages may be the default messages app on several Android smartphones, some manufacturers still ship their devices with their own SMS app. Samsung is a prime example, with the company's Galaxy phones coming preloaded with the Samsung Messages app. Xiaomi and OnePlus also previously used their own proprietary messages apps, but switched to Google Messages on international models a few years back.

To schedule a message to be sent at a specific time and date using the Google Messages app, open the app, select the message icon at the bottom of the screen or choose a contact to open a conversation. Compose the message and then press and hold the Send button. A menu will pop up with an option that reads “Scheduled send.” Once tapped, the app will present a few preset times and dates. Users can choose any of these options or select a specific time and date by tapping the “Select date and time” option. After the preferred date and time have been set, tap Next. The scheduled time will then appear above the composed message along with an “X” which can be used to cancel the scheduling when needed. Pressing the Send button will schedule the message to be sent at the chosen time and date.
