Misery is a Prison Cell mechanic in V Rising that increases the damage a prisoner takes when their Blood is drained or their Blood Essence is extracted. When initially imprisoned, the human thrall starts with a Misery percent of 0. However, as Vampires draw Blood from their victims, this percentage increases, raising the amount of HP loss for each action in V Rising. Therefore, bloodthirsty adventurers must understand how to reduce their prisoners' Misery to keep them «content» and alive for continuous Blood harvesting.
The primary method of reducing Misery in V Rising is feeding the Blood thrall specific kinds of food items. For instance, a Militia Crossbowman from Dunley Farmlands will likely prefer to eat rats and various types of fish found in the region. Accordingly, Vampire lords must procure these sources of meat for the prisoner to keep their Misery low. If a human's Misery is not managed correctly, the next draining of Blood or Blood Essence extraction could kill the NPC or cause them to fall into critical condition.
