The iPhone has become an integral part of modern life, being a near-constant companion and an extension of the user's own awareness of what's happening nearby and worldwide. Beyond the mere communication tool that phones once were, modern smartphones act as a backup for our own memories. By using Apple's Notes, Calendar, and Reminders apps, there's little danger of forgetting important information.

The iPhone's Reminders app has an option for location-based alerts, witha note that appears when the user is at a certain location. To set one up, the user should open the Reminders app, tap the plus button and add a note for themselves, such as the classic reminder to check the oven before leaving the house. Tapping the circled 'i' button reveals more options. About halfway down the list there's a Location toggle switch that provides a choice of places. Apple offers some nice preset options, including a reminder when getting in the car, leaving the car, home, work, and current location, as well as a custom option that lets the user type in an address.
