Something Weird West easily implements into gameplay is player involvement in the world, and the biggest examples of that are the ways to deal with Mayor Weeks. There are a plethora of ways players can interact with the world of Weird West and most choices have lasting effects than can be seen when revisiting areas. The brief tutorial messages that pop up during the game point this out informing players that if they go on a murderous rampage at a town, the aftermath is a constant for the rest of the game.
These choices are usually final as they control the fate of NPCs that cannot be resurrected similar to other games most notably Elden Ring, where slaying an NPC removes them for the remainder of the game. The developers of Weird West pass this idea from the Dishonored series by making every character a potential statistic. Anyone can die in Weird West and that includes key characters that would be seen during the later parts of the story.

One of the first examples of killable key characters in Weird West is Mayor Weeks, a very clearly corrupt mayor with a large amount of protection at his estate. Players will meet Mayor Weeks during the playthrough as the Bounty Hunter on the search for her missing husband. Arrive at Galen's Crossing and head to the main gates protected by gunslinger guards. The relay that players retrieve during one of Weird West's earlier missions as the Bounty Hunter will be used at the main gate. Show it to the guard in order to be welcomed in then, head inside to have a chat with the Mayor.
