Instagram users who want to create polls can on Stories and in direct messages. With multi-choice polls, users can know how their followers and friends have voted on a particular topic. Many social networking apps support the use of polls since it's convenient and easy to use. Polls are also a useful tool for businesses, giving them insights into customer preferences.
Instagram has allowed polls on Stories for some time now, but more recently brought the feature to group chats in DMs. The update, which was rolled out in March 2022, also brought a bunch of other features to Instagram DMs as well. These include the ability to share 30-second song previews from Apple Music and Spotify, the option to «quietly» message friends without sending notifications, and see which friends are online at the top of the inbox.

Adding a poll to an Instagram Story is quite straightforward, and the method is the same on Android and iOS. To begin, create a new Instagram story either by adding a photo or tapping on the Create button. Tap on the emoji sticker icon in the top-right corner and then choose the Poll option from the available stickers menu. Alternatively, type 'Poll' in the search bar if it isn't visible. Add a question for the poll in the gray bar at the top, and then add answers. Instagram has 'Yes' and 'No' options by default, but these can be modified. Instagram also allows a total of four answers for each poll. Tap Done after adding the answers and publish the Story by clicking on the Your Story orClose Friends option.
