Sea of Thieves' recent 2022 preview event pulled back the curtain on a ton of new, upcoming content for the game, including Sea Forts, Adventures, Mysteries, and more. Adventures likely caught the eye of a lot of fans, as players can drastically impact the direction of a Sea of Thieves Adventure through the choices they make. Overall, it’s a very impressive concept, and it’ll be interesting to see how well it works in-game.
Recently, Game Rant sat down with creative director Mike Chapman and executive producer Joe Neate, really diving into this new content. For the Adventures, we talked about the concept of real choice, the fact that Rare doesn’t know when the story will go (because of said choice), the first Sea of Thieves adventures Shrouded Islands, and more. Per Chapman, Adventures have a few different focal points, such as the frequency. Adventures are available for two weeks at a time, taking crudely 45-minutes to an hour to accomplish, and are chapters in an unfolding story. Overall, this focus on cinematic and immersive storytelling also means that fans who thought Adventures sounded like a grindy competition should know it’s not. Length does depend on a few factors, but players do not have to grind in thisSea of Thieves Adventure.
