Video games are a pretty expensive hobby. While a pre-owned Indie game might not set you back as much as a new set of golf clubs, some shiny new sneakers, or even a box of Warhammer minis, they're far from cheap. That's especially true when it comes to big AAA first-party titles, with some of Sony, Xbox, and Nintendo's upcoming games setting players back about $70 each. And, in a stroke of both bad and good luck, October is absolutely jam-packed with brand-new releases, a good few of which are those big AAA games.
There are well over 15 major titles heading to consoles and PC in the coming weeks, and gamers better be prepared to shell out a small fortune if they're planning on picking up the lot. While there are plenty of Indie games and ports dropping in October, this month sees some of the most anticipated AAA games release, and prices are not overly generous.
PS Plus Free Games for October 2022 Available Now
October's video game slate has already kicked off, with the first major title, Overwatch 2, releasing on October 4. Technically released in early access, Overwatch 2 is taking a free-to-play approach this time round. However, there's a big caveat to this. While playing the game is free, players will need to purchase the premium battle pass, or grind for hours to unlock the game's new hero Kiriko. For long-time fans of Overwatch, it may feel as though they're being railroaded into buying the battle pass, which sets them back around $10.
Arriving on October 6, Nier: Automata The End of the Yorha Edition finally comes to Nintendo Switch and will cost $39.99 from the Switch eShop. This version of the game comes packed with the DLC expansion, and some cosmetics and coliseums based on Nier Replicant. No Man's Sky also makes
