You might need to clear some hard drive space to make room for the next PlayStation blockbuster as Horizon Forbidden West is launching at a meaty 97 GB - that's before the day one patch.
The game comes out on February 18 but pre-loads are live right now if you want to get ready early, and there is some good news for those overseas in America. The US version is smaller by a few gigabytes as it doesn't have all the European version's language packs.

If you haven't bought it yet but want to grab it now that pre-loads are live, there's a bit of confusion around pricing you should be wary of. It has been reported that buying the PS4 version and upgrading to the PS5 version is cheaper than getting the PS5 version outright. It's $60 if you go this route, but there is a hiccup - you can't pre-load Horizon Forbidden West on the PS5 through the upgrade.
There are three different file sizes to consider. The Japanese version is 84GB, the American version is 88 GB, and the European build is 97 GB. The game is also smaller on the PS4.
The reason you can't pre-load the PS5 version if you're buying the upgrade is because you have to upgrade on launch day. The pricing muddle likely comes from the fact that Sony backtracked on its decision to charge a $10 fee for upgrading, the new standard as we've seen with games like Death Stranding and Ghost of Tsushima. But for Horizon Forbidden West, you can cheat the system and save yourself ten bucks.
