Horizon Forbidden West has barely been out a year but according to a leaker it's heading to PS Plus imminently. If true, this will be a big shift in the way Sony treats its premium triple-A first-party games.
According to billbil-kun, a leaker on Twitter who correctly leaked the Hi-Fi Rush announcement at the Bethesda Developer Showcase back in January, has tweeted stating Horizon Forbidden West, Scarlet Nexus, Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, and Borderlands 3 will be coming to PS Plus next week, on February 21.

There's no word on which part of the service each game is coming to, but we'd have to assume that Horizon will be saved for the highest paid Premium tier. The other games are old enough that they could be part of the Extra tier, but Scarlet Nexus could also be part of the Premium offering as a way to entice more JRPG fans to upgrade.
Sony has repeatedly said it won't be following Microsoft's lead and putting its first-party games onto PS Plus on the same day they launch. This alone means PS Plus can never truly compete with Game Pass. However, adding big first-party games like Horizon onto the service a year after they launch could go a long way to boosting the value of the service.
At the moment, SOny is mainly bolstering it's profits by porting its biggest hits to PC, such as Thge Last of Us, God of War, and Horizon Zero Dawn. It's also increasing its video game film output with Uncharted, and a logo akin to Marvel's that shows off its roster of characters.
It's also moving into the TV space with a God of War show in the works at Amazon, and the recent purchase of Bungie hinting at a potential animated show.
