It looks like we won’t be heading to Hogwarts just yet. The upcoming RPG set in the Wizarding World has had its release date pushed back. After a delay, Hogwarts Legacy will now release on February 10, 2023. This was announced earlier today on the official Hogwarts Legacy Twitter account. The tweet states that the developer needs “more time to deliver the best possible game experience.” This comes alongside a short video from Chandler Wood, Avalanche Software’s community manager, who confirms the delay.
On the bright side, we finally have a concrete date for Hogwarts Legacy. While it’s always disappointing to see games get delayed, we’re at a point where this is fairly commonplace in game development. The Hogwarts Legacy delay only only an extra two months to the wait time, so it isn’t really all that bad.
Hogwarts Legacy got its initial release window in March during the PlayStation State of Play, where we saw over 20 minutes of gameplay. At this point, that’s still the most we’ve seen of the game since its announcement. We also had an interesting ASMR video showcasing a rainy night in Hogsmeade. But apart from that, we haven’t seen a huge amount of the game. Of course, now that we know of the delay, it’s clear that Hogwarts Legacy still needs work.
Hogwarts Legacy seems to be the biggest game set in the Wizarding World so far. It looks like it’ll provide a comprehensive experience for Harry Potter fans. You’ll be able to enter Hogwarts with your own character and embark on a completely unique adventure.
