The Cenobites make their bloody return in Hulu's Hellraiser, the 11th film in the horror franchise with Sense8 star Jamie Clayton taking over the Pinhead role, the first woman and first trans actor to lead of the series. This update is said to be staying true to its roots while presenting a new take on its horrific source material.
The first new Hellraiser movie in four years, and after a few false starts, this reboot of the iconic franchise finally hits Hulu on October 7. We've only seen images of Clayton as Pinhead but finally, the first trailer is here that tells an all-too-familiar story of pain and hellish pleasure.
This new chapter in the Hellraiser universe comes from David Bruckner who also directed a segment in the original V/H/S as well as two stories of Shudder's recent Creepshow revival. Hellraiser creator Clive Barker had tried to get a new feature going all the way back in 2013 that was intended to be a retelling of the first movie, but eventually, the studio went with a sequel in 2018, Hellraiser: Judgement.
Inspired by the success of the Halloween franchise reboot in 2018, Miramax Films announced plans to adapt future installments in the Hellraiser films. Bruckner was hired as director in the spring of 2020, and also co-wrote the script with familiar collaborators Ben Collins and Luke Piotrowski.
The cast also features Odessa A’zion (Ghosts), Adam Faison (Grace and Frankie), Drew Starkey (Love, Simon), Brandon Flynn (13 Reasons Why), Goran Visnjic (Gotham), and Hiam Abbass (Blade Runner 2049).
