Have you linked your PAN card and Aadhaar card yet? If not, then know that the Aadhaar-PAN linking last date was June 30! Well, there is good and bad news for you. As per a circular issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the deadline for linking your PAN with Aadhaar has been extended, but there is an opportunity open for those who missed linking their IDs. CBDT has extended the deadline of Aadhaar-PAN linking till March 31, 2023. After that, those whose PAN is not linked with Aadhaar will become "inoperative".
That means you still have some time till March 31 of the next year to do the PAN-Aadhaar linking, but there is something that you need to know- failing to link your Aadhaar card with a PAN card, will now cost you a penalty of up to Rs. 1,000 for late linking. This is double the amount that users had to pay before June 30, 2022. If you haven’t linked your Aadhaar with your PAN card, then know how you will need to pay the penalty for late linking.
You will need to visit the NSDL portal to continue with the submission of the Aadhaar-PAN linking request. You can access it via this link - https://onlineservices.tin.egov-nsdl.com/etaxnew/tdsnontds.jsp.
Now, tap on the Proceed option under CHALLAN NO./ITNS 280 to submit your Aadhaar-PAN linking request.
Select the tax applicable option.
You need to make sure that your fee payment is done under Minor head 500 (Fee) and Major head 0021 [Income Tax (Other than Companies)] in a single challan.
To pay the penalty amount, select the mode of Payment from Net banking or Debit card according to yourself.
