Aadhaar card holders can now confirm their identity with the help of face authentication. An app called Aadhaar FaceRD App has been launched by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). The application can be easily downloaded from the Google Play Store. As per the information, the app uses Face Authentication Technology to capture a live person's face for Aadhaar authentication. Also, face authentication can be used for various Aadhaar Authentication applications like Jeewan Praman, Ration Distribution (PDS), CoWin vaccination app, Scholarship schemes, Farmer Welfare Schemes.
Taking to its official Twitter handle, UIDAI on July 12 tweeted, “Residents are now using the #Aadhaar Face Authentication feature by downloading the #UIDAI #RDApp, which can be used for various #Aadhaar Authentication Apps like #JeevanPraman, #PDS, #Scholarship schemes, #COWIN, #FarmerWelfare schemes.” It can be known that Aadhaar Face Authentication technology has been developed inhouse by UIDAI.

According to the information provided by UIDAI, Aadhaar holders' identities, including their Aadhaar numbers and any demographic or biometric data, can be stored in the Central Identity Data Repository using face authentication.
