A memorial site dedicated to the popular Harry Potter character Dobby is in danger of being removed. Author JK Rowling introduced the beloved series over two decades ago. The Harry Potter novels created such a sensation that they were each given cinematic representations. The books and films were exceptionally well received, spawning multiple related theme parks, games, spinoff movies, and even quidditch leagues.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, and the other Harry Potter characters have impacted generations so much that enthusiasts regularly make pilgrimages to popular sites seen in the films. Many have visited Kings Cross station to see where the Hogwarts express departed, Alnwick Castle where Harry learned to play quidditch, Harry’s muggle home at 4 Privet Drive, and even the real-life gravesite of Tom Riddle, whose name Rowling commandeered for her villain. However, the most devoted admirers have sought out more obscure Harry Potter locations.

Freshwater West beach in Wales is evidence of Potterhead devotion. On the beach stands a memorial gravesite dedicated to everyone’s favorite House-elf, Dobby. The location has grown in popularity among the Harry Potter fanbase. Unfortunately, the high traffic to the site has left its future in question. The New York Post has reported that the memorial may soon be destroyed due to the environmental concerns of the organization that oversees its maintenance.
