Halo Infinite will be getting back its "tank gun" in a forthcoming update. The studio behind the game, 343 Industries, took a lot of heat from fans of the franchise for taking this weapon out of the campaign earlier this month as the game entered its second season. The tank gun has frequently been described as glitched.
The news comes directly from Senior Community Manager at 343 Industries John Junyszek who noted how the tank gun will be finding its “way home above Outpost Tremonius” in the forthcoming update. Junyszek previously warned the community about its removal. “Heads up for speedrunners and achievement hunters,” the developer said on Twitter back in April. “The tank gun glitch in the campaign will be fixed in Season 2. Feel free to do what you like with this piece of information.”

The tank gun is basically a portable version of the cannon from the Scorpion with unlimited ammunition. The weapon has been popular among speedrunners for its ability to make the game easier and therefore much faster to complete. While the tank gun was actually invisible, the weapon could be found in the Outpost Tremonious mission. When this was removed from the game, speedrunners were quick to react on social media, taking to platforms like Reddit and Twitter to express their discontent.
343 Industries will be adding back various jumps to the multiplayer gameplay as well. “With overwhelmingly strong feedback from our players, it was clear we made a mistake in removing a number of skill jumps from the game,” Junyszek admitted.
