Halo Infinite players are confused and angry after purchasing nail polish for an exclusive in-game skin only to be provided with a Forza Horizon 5 livery instead.
Last month, Microsoft announced a partnership with nail polish maker OPI to provide two in-game skins with proof of purchase. The announced skins were for Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5, but Halo fans are finding out that the shiny Infinite skins were a bit of a lie.

Folks who submitted their receipts to OPI for a Halo Infinite skin were instead only provided a livery for Forza Horizon. As it turns out, the first batch of nail polish bottles only provided Forza skins and Halo Infinite's colors weren't available until February 1. Fans had to buy the bottles from Amazon in the US, while international Halo players could buy from select retailers.
As reported by Kotaku, OPI's initial terms and conditions didn't mention the February 1 date. Many Halo fans felt like the promotion was a bait and switch.
Katie J, Halo partnerships and lifestyle lead at Xbox, did break the bad news to one questioning Halo fan last month, but it seems like her tweet didn't quite get the message out.
"I think you might have figured it out already but Forza has an exclusive in the US with Ulta for their code; a code for the Halo armor coating will be available with purchases starting Feb 1 at Amazon in the US and in other regions at other retailers (not sure of the breakdown)," she said.
Bottles purchased after February 1 should be eligible for Halo skin codes, but there's another problem: the skin itself isn't in-game yet. It'll be added in a future patch, but that doesn't help angry Infinite fans now.
