The next Battlefield game isn't likely to be coming anytime soon. Both developer DICE and publisher EA have stated that their main priority in regard to the franchise is Battlefield 2042. DICE has stated it has learned valuable lessons from Battlefield 2042's poorly received launch and will seek to change plans around the next game in the series in order to not repeat past mistakes. Even with the next Battlefield title facing somewhat of a setback, it seems DICE is already gearing up to improve on the shooter series.
Recently, a job listing was spotted for a Design Director at what is being referred to by EA as the «Battlefield Seattle Studio.» Unlike other Battlefield teams, the developers working in Seattle are primarily focused on creating narrative experiences. The details of this job role imply that a new Battlefield single player campaign may be in development soon, if it's not already, something that many fans will be happy to hear after a single-player experience was notably absent from Battlefield 2042.
EA Responds to Rumors of 'Skeleton Crew' Working on Battlefield 2042
Now, it seems that the team slated to work on the new Battlefield campaign may have a big name in the gaming industry joining on. Marcus Lehto, co-creator of Halo, tweeted back in October 2021 that he had joined EA as a game director and was working to build a new studio in the Seattle area with a focus on «first-person games.» Now that fans know more about the purpose of the Seattle studio, it seems highly likely that Lehto is working on the new Battlefield title and building its campaign.
