As part of its latest update, Grand Theft Auto Online is finally allowing players to buy custom cars that they see at meets - a feature that has been highly requested by fans of the popular online entry to the Grand Theft Auto series. The online game is seeing renewed interest thanks to the recent release of the Xbox Series X/S and PS5 versions of GTA Online and GTA 5.
Whether players have stolen or bought one, cars have always been a big deal in GTA Online, and customization has played an important role in the 3D era of GTA, from the basic color changes offered at Pay & Sprays in Grand Theft Auto 3 and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, to the introduction of full car modification in Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas. With most of the games in GTA being single-player, customization was largely for self-gratification, and unless players shared screenshots, were streaming, or playing in front of friends, the chance to show off their latest tricked-out rides was limited. This all changed with GTA Online. Due to the high levels of customization available inGTA Online for characters, costumes, and vehicles, it wasn't long before players began showing off their custom rides at in-game car meets. Unfortunately, despite being able to look at and admire their fellow players' kitted-out vehicles, the option to buy them wasn't available.
