In the newest update to Grand Theft Auto Online, titled «The Contract,» players have come across an easter egg that clearly references an outfit from Rockstar's PS2-eraGrand Theft Auto: Vice City. GTA Online's newest content expansion was released last month and is considered one of the biggest post-launch updates players have seen from Rockstar Games so far. "The Contract" update features the return of GTA 5's Franklin Clinton, Chop the Dog, and Lamar and includes new exclusive music from Dr. Dre, a new radio station, weapons, quality of life updates, and new missions that explore the returning characters and GTA Online's ongoing story.
Throughout its history, Rockstar Games has implemented distinctive Easter eggs within each GTA game they create, beginning with Grand Theft Auto on PS1 in 1997. Similar to GTA's radio stations that host its iconic soundtracks and emblematic cheat codes, these hidden Easter eggs are an integral part of the GTA series and add a new layer of discoverability that has kept the franchise memorable for two decades. Players can spend countless hours exploring the game worlds and can run across references to other games and movies, as well as callbacks to other titles in the Rockstar universe. They can even find strange breakthroughs like ghosts, mythical creatures, cameos, and other intentionally well-hidden secrets.
