For years, rumors have persisted that Rockstar Games plans on expanding Grand Theft Auto Online with a Liberty City expansion, though that's never come to pass. And with Rockstar Games finally confirming Grand Theft Auto 6's development, if there were ever plans for such a sizable expansion for the game, they have likely been shelved. While it remains unlikely that Liberty City will be added to Grand Theft Auto Online, an Easter egg relating to it has actually been discovered in the game.
As discovered by YouTubers GamingBGK and MrFraucheur, Grand Theft Auto Online has a Liberty City Easter egg hiding in the Opium Nights Hotel. If Grand Theft Auto Online players make their way to the Opium Nights Hotel at nighttime and look at its glass windows, they can actually see Liberty City in the reflection instead of Los Santos. What's bizarre is that this only applies to the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game; this Easter egg is nowhere to be found in the PS5 and Xbox Series X versions of GTA Online.

It's possible that this Easter egg was also featured in the PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Grand Theft Auto Online as well, but fans have no way of checking anymore. Rockstar Games shut down GTA Online for PS3 and Xbox 360 late last year so that it could focus its efforts on supporting the newer versions of the popular online multiplayer game.
Some may take this as a sign that Rockstar Games is teasing the long-rumored Liberty City expansion for Grand Theft Auto Online, but since this is found in older versions of the game and not the newer releases, that seems highly unlikely.
