It's almost a guarantee that Grand Theft Auto 6 is going to be one of the biggest games of this, or any, generation. It just needs to come out first. With Rockstar Games having gone on a hiring spree, it looks as though development is starting to ramp up for the long-awaited follow-up to 2013's GTA5. It's still not clear exactly when the next installment will come out, but it has been suggested that it's been in the works for quite some time.
That's according to Bloomberg reporter Jason Schreier, who says that Grand Theft Auto 6 has been in development «in some form» since 2014. If true, this means the studio started working on it just one year after GTA5 hit the shelves. Schreier doesn't go into any more detail than that, so it's difficult to know precisely what is meant by «development» in this context. It could indicate that it was in pre-production and has been for years, but anything outside what the report says will likely just be speculation. However, it does seem as though some designers in the Edinburgh branch of Rockstar allegedly quit, owing to a «lack of progress.»
