Google has applied to trademark the name 'Pixel Watch,' seemingly confirming long-standing rumors about a 'Made-by-Google' smartwatch. Ever since Google introduced Android Wear in 2014 (since renamed Wear OS), there have been talks about the company possibly releasing its own in-house smartwatch. Google's Nexus and Pixel line of smartphones have generally been well received over the past several years, so it makes sense for the company to come out with its own smartwatch.
There have been multiple reports about the Pixel Watch over the past year, including supposed renders that revealed a device with a minimalist circular design. The images, leaked by tipster extraordinaire Jon Prosser, also seemed to show a nearly bezel-less display, a physical crown that could be used for navigating the UI, and a possible proprietary watch band design. More recent leaks have even suggested that the device could go official at the upcoming Google I/O conference next month. In addition, the latest developments have now seemingly confirmed the name of the device.
