Have you ever found yourself downloading a new app and then totally forgetting to open it? I have never. But anyhow, Google Play Store might have come up with the perfect solution for that problem. Apparently, the upcoming feature in the Google Play Store will allow users to auto-launch installed apps.
According to a report by Android Authority, Google Play Store is working on a new feature that could save you a few taps. This potential new feature would open apps automatically as soon as they’re downloaded. No more fumbling around to find the app icon or wondering if the download even finished. The moment the app is ready, it’ll pop up on your screen.
Now, this feature isn’t set in stone just yet. It’s all based on an APK teardown of Play Store version 41.4.19, which means it’s not officially announced and there’s no word on when it might drop. But if it does, it’s going to be called App Auto Open. And the best part is that it would be totally optional. You’ll be able to toggle it on and off depending on whether you want your installed apps from the Google Play Store to auto-launch or not.
So how will it work? Simple. When an app finishes downloading, you’ll get a notification banner at the top of your screen for about 5 seconds. It might even ring or vibrate depending on your phone settings. This means you won’t miss it, even if you’re momentarily distracted by an Instagram reel or a raid in your favourite mobile game.
By the way, this info is still unofficial, so we don’t have an exact release date yet. But when we find out more about it from Google, we’ll surely let you know first.
