Genshin Impact updates always bring loads of new content including new playable characters, monsters and regions to explore. Each update usually lasts for approximately 45 days, and it's divided between two banner cycles which bring limited characters and weapons.
The current Genshin Impact Version 2.6 has brought a new character Ayato along with two banner re-runs featuring Venti and Ayaka. According to a couple of Genshin Impact speculations and rumors, the release date for upcoming update 2.7 could get pushed back.
Genshin Impact Leaker Claims Venti's Value Will Increase With New Region Sumeru
Genshin Impact update 2.6 arrived on March 30, which means that going by the game's usual update schedule, Version 2.7 should arrive around mid-May. However, a recent post on the Genshin Impact leaks subreddit hints that the new update might get delayed. The post claims that there are already a few hints proving that update 2.6 might stay a little longer than expected. A Chinese Genshin Impact announcements on Bilibili mentions that the Marvelous Merchandise event will arrive after Leyline Overflow which was supposed to be the last event of the update. This confirms that there have been additional changes to Hoyoverse's original plans.
One of the main reasons behind this potential delay is probably the current COVID-19 situation in Shanghai which apparently has a significant impact on the Chinese developer Hoyoverse. However, the post has caused a lot of confusion considering that the upcoming Ayaka banner is confirmed to be three weeks, which is standard for a banner cycle. This means that a third banner will most likely be added after Ayaka, probably featuring one of the characters from the Standard banner.
