Genshin Impact Map Leaks Reveal Sumeru's First Desert Part

Genshin Impact has introduced an interesting trend of unlocking one main nation annually. After Inazuma's storyline came to an end, developer HoYoverse finally introduced the long-awaited Sumeru region in update 3.0.

Even though Sumeru's official promotional videos revealed that the region is divided between rainforests and deserts, Genshin Impact Version 3.0 has allowed players to explore only the rainforest part of the new nation. This means that Travelers will have to wait for a couple of weeks in order to set foot in Teyvat's first desert.

A new post on the Genshin Impact Leaks subreddit shows the map of the first Sumeru desert that will be revealed in the upcoming update 3.1. The leak was apparently taken from the ongoing Genshin Impact Version 3.1 beta phase, and it seems as though the map expansion will apparently be even larger than the first part of Sumeru that was added at the start of the current update 3.0. Even though the desert looks enormous, there is a chance that a big part of it could be empty in order to make it more realistic.

According to the map, the first part of the desert will be divided into three separate locations named: The Downwind Erosion, The Windward Erosion, and Sandplain Colonnade. While the first two parts seem to share the same type of relief as Sumeru but without vegetation, the Sandplain Colonnade will be filled with desert sand and mysterious buildings such as the enormous pyramid that was shown in one of Sumeru's teasers.
