The Genshin Impact 2.8 update is almost here, and the latest Special Program livestream has given players plenty to look forward to in the near future. As usual, new playable characters are arguably the biggest draw. However, getting to see what returning characters will be featured on Banners is another highlight. In addition to the new events and quests, here are the confirmed characters for Genshin Impact 2.8.
Prior to the livestream, Genshin Impact revealed Shikanoin Heizou, a young detective for the Tenryou Commission and Kamisato Ayato's friend. While the original announcement didn't explicitly confirm Heizou for Version 2.8, it was all but guaranteed given the way HoYoverse typically shares new character details early. Now, thanks to the Genshin Impact 2.8 livestream, Heizou has been confirmed as the newest playable character to join the game's roster.

Heizou is a 4-star Anemo user who wields catalysts in combat. Based on Heizou's Talents and Constellations, he will be a DPS-focused character. While a lot about Heizou, his personality, and his abilities leaked already because of beta test datamining, the Genshin Impact 2.8 livestream was the first time fans got an official, extended view of Heizou and how he'll play. And if Heizou isn't someone's cup of tea, there are a number of Banner characters returning in the Version 2.8 update.
