Gearbox has announced that it’s working on a new Tales from the Borderlands game.
Released in 2014 and developed by Telltale Games, the original Tales from the Borderlands is a five-part episodic game set on Pandora between the events of Borderlands 2 and Borderlands 3.
Gearbox is developing the “all new Tales from the Borderlands adventure”, which will be published by 2K later this year.
The studio said more details about the game will be shared this summer.
Take-Two publishing label 2K said in February that the Borderlands franchise had shipped over 74 million units.
2012’s Borderlands 2 is its top-selling title with over 26 million copies shipped, while 2019’s Borderlands 3 is its fastest selling game with more than 15 million copies shipped.
Saber Interactive owner Embracer Group acquired Texas-based Gearbox last year in a deal that could rise to $1.4 billion.
Following the announcement, 2K said it would continue to work with Gearbox on the Borderlands franchise and hinted at collaborations on other projects too.
On Thursday, Gearbox announced that it plans to acquire US-based studio Lost Boys Interactive, which co-developed the recently released Borderlands spin-off Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands.
The acquisition will add more than 220 team members to Gearbox, taking its global headcount to approximately 1,300.
