The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4 are set to be released this year, and while there's been no official word from the South Korean company, several leaks have revealed a lot about the smartphones. Samsung released the first iteration of the Fold in Sept. 2019 and the Flip in Feb. 2020 to a mixed reception. While they were praised for their innovation, they had issues with durability. However, each generation has improved durability, and users hope that trend will continue.
While Samsung remains the leader in the U.S. for foldable phones, many other companies are coming out with their own versions. The tech giant has more competition in the global market than it does in the U.S, including Huawei's Mate Xs and P50 Pocket and Xiaomi's Mi Mix Fold. In the U.S., Motorola will also release its third generation of the Razr this year, though it's not expected to beat Samsung's foldables.

According to a recent leak by Jon Prosser, the Samsung Galaxy Unpacked event will be on Aug. 10, 2022, and that's when the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 will be announced. Then, they will hit shelves on Aug. 26. None of this has been confirmed by Samsung yet, though. Last year, both the Flip 3 and Fold 3 smartphones were announced and released in August. The year before, The Fold 2 had a similar timeframe, with the announcement coming in August and the release date in September. Despite Samsung not making an official announcement for the fourth generation of these phones, there are many leaks for users to get an idea of what will be released.
