The latest version of Fortnite is introducing a couple of new features aimed at improving the gameplay experience by making it easier to find good teammates.
As the Fortnite blog explains(Opens in a new window), the two new features are called social tags and Looking For Party. Social tags are pretty self-explanatory: You can add up to three to your profile split across favorite game modes (e.g. 2v2, Deathrun, Free For All), your gameplay vibes (e.g. Chill, Mic Off, Mic On), and preferred competitive events (e.g. Cosmetic Cup, Hype Cup, Lightning Cup).
The game will then use your selected tags to recommend Fortnite experiences, but you'll also be able to send and receive party invites to/from players who have matching tags. That way, those random players you decide to team up with are a little less random in terms of how they like to play.
The new Looking For Party (LFP) feature appears as a section in the sidebar and is how those social tag-curated invites are handled. By turning on LFP, you can start receiving invites from players with matching tags as well as sending out invitations. Turning off LFP means you'll stop receiving invites and any you sent will automatically expire.
For now, social tags and Looking For Party are experimental new features that Epic Games is testing. However, they are features set to become a permanent part of the game and "will be incrementally rolled out to all players at a rate dependent on the test." So keep an eye out for them appearing on your profile soon.
