Epic Games has officially introduced Fortnite’s new Zero Build battle royale mode.
The game removed building from its default mode this month to mark the start of the new season and the game type proved popular with players.
A series of leaked modes discovered last week suggested Fortnite could permanently introduce a ‘no build’ mode and Epic has now confirmed that’s the case.

“Zero Build mode is a pure test of weapon, item, and traversal ability,” it said on Tuesday. “Zero Build can be found in the Discover page as Solo, Duos, Trios, and Squads playlists. (Access the Discover page by clicking on the “CHANGE” button above “PLAY!” in the Lobby.)
“Without building, all players have the recharging Overshield as your first line of defense in Zero Build. Zip up Ascenders to access Blimps or use Mantling to get the high-ground over your opponents. Don’t forget to Sprint between cover on your way to a Victory Royale!”
Epic recently committed to donating “all its Fortnite proceeds” to Ukraine humanitarian relief efforts for a two-week period ending on April 3. It has been joined by Xbox, which is also set to donate its “net proceeds” from Fortnite during this time.
Over $50 million had been raised as of March 22. The money will go to four humanitarian relief organisations – Direct Relief, the United Nations Children’s Fund, the United Nations World Food Programme, and the United Nations Refugee Agency.
