It's felt a little quiet on the Fortnite front for a while, probably because it was making headlines left and right when the island was flipped upside down to mark the start of a new chapter. Chapter three's first season has been a long one, but Epic is finally ready to bid it adieu and start up season two. Season one will come to an end this week, and shortly after that, season two will be ushered in.
That usually means two things. A big event to close the current season, and a number of new crossovers to ring in the next. There's currently very little information on how we will transition from this season to the next, but datamines of this week's update have revealed some of the crossovers we might be getting in the coming days and weeks.

It might feel as if there isn't anyone left who hasn't already become a part of the Fortnite canon, but this recent datamine just goes to show that is far from the case. A number of characters from different IPs have been unearthed including more faces from the MCU and debut team-ups with Final Fantasy and Doctor Who. It also looks like Freddy Kruger will be joining Predator and Terminator on the more adult side of the Fortnite crossover coin.
The Final Fantasy hint comes in the form of Cloud's Buster Sword. You can check out how it might look in-game above, likely as a back bling/pickaxe, although it would be a pretty cool limited-time weapon too. Akin to lightsabers during one of Fortnite's Star Wars crossovers. An addition that resulted in players willingly dropping all of their other weapons in favor of battling with nothing but the lightsabers.
